Instagram Redesigns More Than Its Interface

You may have noticed when you woke up the other morning that Instagram’s layout and design look much different than when you went to bed. Well, you’re not crazy, because the photo sharing giant recently implemented some changes to minimalize the user experience.Famous for its sepia filters and blue color pallet, Instagram has now adopted a minimalistic black-and-white design. In fact, while it seems like other social media outlets redesign their interfaces almost monthly, this is the first Instagram redesign since launching more than five years ago.“When Instagram was founded over five years ago, it was a place for you to easily edit and share photos,” Instagram’s head of design Ian Spalter recently wrote in a blog post. “Over those five years, things have changed. Instagram is now a diverse community of interests where people are sharing more photos and videos than ever before, using new tools like Boomerang and Layout, and connecting in new ways through Explore.”Instagram’s analytics also get a faceliftAccording to Later, one of the biggest missing pieces of the Instagram pie is finally getting served. Instagram’s new analytics tool – known as Insights – is slated to provide much more information than previous versions, including:

  • Age, geographic, and gender distribution
