Which GoT Character Matches Your Marketing Style?

[WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD]We’re half way through the current season of Game of Thrones, and if you’re anything like us, you can’t wait to see who will get one step closer to the Iron Throne. But like all good marketing professionals, the team at PBJ Marketing is constantly on the lookout for new and unique marketing concepts. Our watch never ends, and we have to admit, there’s a lot to be learned from many of our favorite (and most hated) inhabitants of the Seven Kingdoms when it comes to marketing techniques.Which character do you think matches your marketing style?Little Finger (Affinity Marketing)Affinity Marketing is also known as "partnership marketing," and it’s the technique of creating links between two brands in a partnership that benefits both parties. Petyr Baelish – popularly known as Littlefinger – is a master of this technique. By forging relationships with Westeros’ most dominant households, Littlefinger’s affinity marketing took him from being the last remaining member of House Baelish to Master of Coin on the Small Council to the unofficial ruler of House Arryn.Jon Snow (Alliance Marketing)Alliance Marketing is when two companies come together to pool their resources to promote and sell a product or service. To Jon Snow, there is nothing more important than promoting the idea that winter is coming; a campaign that led to an unholy alliance with the wildlings and his eventual demise. But now that Lord Snow is back on his feet and looking to take back Winterfell, will his alliance marketing work on uniting the northern households against House Bolton? We're excited for the looming Bastard Bowl!Daenerys Targaryen (Community Marketing)Community Marketing caters to the needs and requirements of existing customers, and promotes loyalty and product satisfaction allowing for word-of-mouth marketing among the community. Daenerys Targaryen’s Breaker of Chains branding was a great way to unite the disenfranchised of Slaver’s Bay against “The Masters” and give her a position of power in Meereen. However, what Daenerys seems to forget is that community marketing requires a relentless presence to maintain loyalty. With her continued absence – thanks to Drogon and antics for linking up with Dothraki Hordes – Daenerys is quickly losing her market position in Meereen.Varys (Database Marketing)Database Marketing harnesses the power of customer information to create customized communication strategies, and who is this Master of Whispers? Varys. Since becoming a eunuch so many years ago, Varys has established a complex network of spies affectionately known as his “little birds.” These little birds supply Varys with valuable information, intelligence, and insights that allow him to adjust his strategy accordingly. The High Sparrow (Evangelism Marketing)Evangelism Marketing is similar to word-of-mouth marketing, as it relies on voluntary advocates of a product to promote it. Who else could this be, but the High Sparrow? After all, the High Sparrow is the head of a fundamentalist religious movement wreaking havoc on King’s Landing. By targeting the suffering of those who endured hardship during the War of the Five Kingdoms, the High Sparrow’s rebranded Faith of the Seven is a force to be reckoned with.Ramsay Bolton (Guerilla Marketing)Guerilla Marketing utilizes unconventional techniques with imagination and a surprise element to “wow” big crowds. In the wake of King Joffrey’s death, Ramsay Bolton has inherited the title of resident psychopath and whether it’s feeding his stepmother and hours-old half-brother to a pack of hounds or slicing Theon Greyjoy where it hurts, he has a knack for showmanship. For old god’s sake, the Bolton house sigil is even flayed man!Lord PBJ, Protector of the Digital Realm (Digital Marketing)Digital Marketing incorporates numerous aspects from web design and search engine optimization to social media branding and iOS and Android development to strengthen brands. PBJ Marketing – or as we’re known in Westeros – Lord PBJ, Protector of the Digital Realm – has the tools and knowhow to address all our client’s digital marketing needs. If your digital presence is as old and tired as the Night’s Watch, and is ready to be resurrected by the Lord of Light, send us a raven.
