What We Can Learn From Fortune 500 Instagram Accounts

David Bosley

Major brands are great at reaching the public, and in this day and age, social media sites, such as Instagram, are their strongest outlets.

TrackMaven recently released The Fortune 500 Instagram Report: 2016 Edition and it shed some interesting light on the habits of major brands and the ways they approach using the photo sharing app.

-The performance of images shared on Instagram is heavily influenced by the time of day. The most common times for posts are 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (in that order).

-Big brands prefer key filters. The report found that Juno is currently the most commonly used, followed by Lark, Clarendon, and Ludwig. However, the majority of images are not processed at all.

-Engagement is more important than conversions. Slightly more than 1% of interactions on Instagram are comments, while the remaining engagements are likes.

-Approximately 50% of Fortune 500 companies use Instagram, up from 24.6% in 2013.
