In the past, obtaining one of these checkmarks was hard to come by, but according to Marketing Tech News, it just got a whole lot easier.The new source states that all brands can now apply for a verified Twitter account, which provides numerous advantages for brands and marketers, alike. Accounts are only verified if Twitter determines it’s of public interest, but luckily the application process is pretty straightforward.All you need is the following:-Verified phone number-Confirmed email address-A Twitter bio-Profile photo-Header photo-Date of birth (for personal accounts, such as public figures)-Web address-Tweets set the publicDon’t worry if you get rejected on your first try. You will be notified and can reapply after 30 days.In 2009, Twitter was the first social media outlet to offer account verification, and currently, has more than 187,000 verified accounts. The first account to receive a blue verification checkmark was the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(@CDCgov), followed NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center (@NASAArmstrong), Kim Kardashian (@KimKardashian), Oprah Winfrey (@Oprah), and Tony Hawk (@TonyHawk).
